HISTORY OF POLO AT ROSELAND FARM

ESTABLISHED 1996

After David & Ellen King moved to Virginia from Houston, Texas in 1995, their search for a farm had one priority; 12 acres of relatively flat ground for a polo field.  Vineyards and a winery were not even a dream at that point. David had played polo since 1980 and wanted a polo field and polo club to continue enjoying the sport. The farm that now contains both Roseland Polo and King Family Vineyards fit perfectly into the family’s vision: a country place where we could all live, work, and play.

ROSELAND POLO TODAY

The Roseland Polo Club now has grown from David and Ellen’s vision to strive to grow the sport of polo in the Charlottesville area. The Roseland Polo Club gives the public exposure to polo through free polo matches for watching every Sunday and offering fans a chance to learn to play through The Roseland Polo School.

RESERVED ROSELAND POLO SPACE

BOOK YOUR SPACES BELOW

Most of our field is open for tailgating on a first-come, first-served basis. If you’d prefer a guaranteed spot no matter when you arrive, we also offer reserved spaces every Sunday. Each reserved space is 10×10 with room for two vehicles parked behind it, and you can choose from two reserved options. Reserved spaces are never required – just available for those who want them. As always, our Sunday polo matches are free and open to the public.

New this year, you can choose between two locations for your Sunday polo experience: our west side or our east side. Each offers its own benefits – explore below!

WEST SIDE SPACE

Located on the west side of our field, closer to our season sponsors and the announcer. Each space is 10×10 with two parking spots directly behind, plus access to additional field parking just a short distance away. Bring your own pop-up tent, table, and chairs to enjoy the day with family and friends, or choose an optional tent add-on (tent availability is limited).

When reserving, please note: one ticket equals one reserved space, not one per person – you don’t need to buy multiple tickets for your group. We recommend no more than 10 people per reserved space.

EAST SIDE SPACE

Located on the east side of our field, closer to our tasting room, food trucks, and main parking lot. Each space is 10×10 with one parking spot across the gravel driving path.

The Roseland Polo School

The Polo School at the Roseland Polo Club offers polo lessons throughout the year at its state-of-the-art polo facility located here at King Family Vineyards. Polo lessons are open to all with or without any riding experience. We offer youth and adult lessons.

One of our most popular options for first-time adult polo learners would be our Intro to Polo ExperienceA one and a half-hour lesson both on the ground and on horseback, followed by a guided wine tasting at the King Family Vineyards tasting room. No previous riding background is required and the experience can be tailored to your preferences.
